Anurag received the prestigious 18 Under 18 Award in 2025, a testament to how his groundbreaking work spoke volumes. While he has developed multiple projects, the RL System was the primary innovation that secured him this renowned recognition from Eastern India.

The significance of this award is immense. It is organized by The Telegraph, an esteemed publication founded on July 7, 1982, and published by ABP Pvt. Ltd., the same group behind Anandabazar Patrika—the highest-selling and most-read Bengali-language daily newspaper in India.

The prestige of the award is further highlighted by its elite panel of judges. The chief evaluators included Sumantra Chattarji, a distinguished neuroscientist who trained at IIT Kanpur, Johns Hopkins, Yale and MIT before starting his laboratory at the National Centre for Biological Sciences, and Dibyendu Barua, India's second chess Grandmaster and Arjuna Awardee who runs the Dibyendu Barua Chess Academy.

Winning an award judged by such accomplished figures underscores the technical and social value attributed to the RL System and its vision of using innovation to address real-world safety challenges.

The RL System was showcased and awarded at the 48th Eastern India Science Fair, held from January 7 to January 10, 2025, at the Birla Industrial and Technological Museum (BITM) in Kolkata.

The fair's main theme was “Science and Technology for Sustainable Future”, covering crucial sub-themes such as Disaster Management, Health and Hygiene, and Waste Management.

The event was highly competitive, featuring more than 100 innovative science models and 25 engineering projects presented by around 350 student participants from states across Eastern India, including West Bengal, Bihar and Odisha.

Best Project — Juvenile Category

The RL System stood out among the participating innovations, earning the Sayan Memorial Prize.

This recognition is particularly significant because the RL System combined a technological approach with a direct social purpose: developing a proactive framework intended to help protect people facing imminent danger.

In a remarkable academic achievement, Anurag presented the RL System at the 7th Regional Science & Technology Congress (2024–25).

This prestigious event was organized by the Department of Science, Technology and Biotechnology, Government of West Bengal. The congress is typically associated with advanced participants such as college researchers and university students.

However, recognizing the exceptional caliber of the RL System, Anurag was granted special permission to present his framework at the age of just ten, making him the youngest-ever participant in the history of the congress.

An exceptional young participant presenting a framework developed around a real-world social challenge.

Public Administration & Social Impact
